Job summary

York County Government is hiring a Watershed Technician to support watershed assessment, monitoring, funding, and education efforts in south-central Pennsylvania. You will collaborate with landowners, municipalities, and stakeholders to promote water quality protection and implement restoration programs.

The role focuses on data input, plan development, CAP support, trainings, and grant administration, with potential evening or weekend work as needed. A PA driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Environmental Resource Management or related field.
  • 2 years of work experience in Environmental Resource field beneficial but not required.
  • Basic understanding of developing, writing, and administering grant proposals.
  • Basic understanding of current technology related to water quality issues and BMPs.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Dirt & Gravel, Low Volume Road (DGLVR) ESM Program.
  • Implement habitat improvement and debris removal programs as listed.
  • Work with landowners and municipalities to promote water quality protection.
  • Input data into PracticeKeeper as needed.
  • Develop or support watershed-based plans and restoration strategies.
  • Assist in CAP implementation and serve on WAY committees as needed.
  • Promote BMPs and watershed restoration projects among stakeholders.
  • Assist with water quality monitoring and DEP ICE Protocol.
  • Prepare and submittal grant applications, reports, reimbursements, etc.
  • Present trainings on watershed restoration and protection concepts.
