Job summary

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation seeks a Watershed Policy Specialist in the Advocacy and Restoration Department to be based in Annapolis, Maryland. The role focuses on developing positions on environmental legislation, regulations, and funding to protect water quality and living resources of the Chesapeake Bay.

You will prepare comments, briefing papers, and testimony for the Maryland General Assembly, while collaborating with partners and educating stakeholders about watershed health and policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in land use/urban planning, environmental policy, or related field with 1–2 years experience.
• Strong written and public speaking skills for policy advocacy and testimony.
• Collaborative work style; ability to work in teams and independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop Maryland office positions on environmental legislation and regulations.
• Review regulations, funding programs, and proposed projects for water impact.
• Prepare comments, briefing papers, and policy reports for CBF positions.
• Deliver written testimony to the Maryland General Assembly and engage with media.
• Participate in coalitions to advance watershed health policies.
• Represent CBF in committees and at technical conferences.
• Assist in implementing CBF strategic plan priorities.
