Job summary

Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability is seeking a professional watershed planner for the Watershed Management Section. The role involves watershed plan development, outreach, grant support, data analysis, report preparation, and contract management related to water quality regulations.

The candidate will perform field and desk assessments, manage projects with stakeholders, and coordinate with partners to improve stormwater outcomes and program delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, regional, urban or city planning, or in a natural resource, environmental or a biological science.
• Two years' professional experience in a planning, science or related field.
• Additional education in one of the areas listed may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

• Develop watershed plans and conduct research and analyses.
• Assist with grant programs and manage contract aspects related to NPDES MS4 permits, TMDLs and related water quality regulations.
• Prepare reports and maps; review state permits and provide comments.
• Lead outreach strategies and messaging to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with non-profit grantees, consultants, and county staff; represent the department on committees.
