City of Atlanta is hiring a Watershed Construction Maintenance Worker I to support the wastewater collection and water distribution systems. You will operate heavy equipment, perform maintenance tasks, and work as part of a crew under direct supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with no formal experience required and up to 6 months of related work in water systems preferred. The position emphasizes safety, efficiency, and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of department policies and procedures; general site safety in water/wastewater operations.
• Methods, products, tools, and equipment used in water/wastewater maintenance and construction work; basic math principles.
• Ability to operate a variety of light-to-heavy power equipment; maintain tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned work orders efficiently and prioritize with supervisor.
• Inspect and repair water mains; manage traffic control during breaks.
• Maintain and repair fire hydrants; perform pressurization testing.
• Operate power tools and construction equipment as needed.
• Assist in prioritizing and completing work orders and schedules.
• Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections.
• Coordinate daily duties with Crew Supervisors and ensure materials available.
• Set up safety cones and secure work areas before maintenance tasks.
• Locate water service connections and mark lines; ensure correct mapping.
• Check trucks for proper equipment and request materials as needed.
