Job summary

LVI Associates in the United States seeks a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer for its Marine & Waterfront Engineering team in RI/MA. The role offers a diverse portfolio of coastal infrastructure projects with growth in technical and leadership responsibilities.

You will contribute to design, assessment, and delivery of waterfront structures, mentor junior staff, engage with clients, and support business development while benefiting from a flexible hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years' experience for Project Engineer level; 8+ years for Senior Project Engineer level.
  • EIT certification required for junior-level candidates; PE licensure preferred.
  • PE licence strongly preferred and may be required for more senior applicants.
  • Experience on marine, waterfront, coastal, geostructural, or heavy civil projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design, construction documentation, and project delivery processes.
  • Familiarity with coastal resilience, shoreline protection, or marine infrastructure design is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead planning, design, assessment, and rehabilitation of marine and waterfront structures.
  • Oversee field investigations, inspections, and geotechnical evaluations for coastal/marine projects.
  • Prepare and review reports, studies, specs, drawings, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with engineers, technicians, contractors, and specialist consultants throughout project delivery.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.

Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer - Marine & Waterfront Engineering

A respected engineering consultancy is seeking a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer to join its growing Marine & Waterfront Engineering team. Title and level will be determined based on experience, technical expertise, and professional credentials.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in waterfront, marine, geostructural, geotechnical, or structural engineering who is looking to work on a diverse portfolio of coastal infrastructure projects while developing both technical and project leadership skills.

You’ll contribute to the assessment, design, and delivery of critical waterfront infrastructure, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on projects that support coastal resilience, marine transportation, and shoreline development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and lead the planning, design, assessment, and rehabilitation of marine and waterfront structures.
  • Conduct and oversee field investigations, inspections, and geotechnical evaluations for coastal and marine projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering reports, technical studies, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.

Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 4+ years' experience for Project Engineer level or 8+ years' experience for Senior Project Engineer level.
  • EIT certification required for junior-level candidates, with PE licensure preferred.

  • Experience working on marine, waterfront, coastal, geostructural, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
