Position Overview

The Lifeguard 3 monitors aquatic activities at Cleveland Metroparks Villa Angela Beach to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies. This role enforces rules and regulations to ensure guest safety by minimizing hazardous situations or behaviors.

Essential Functions

1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
2. Monitor water activities within designated guarded swim areas.
3. Rescue distressed persons using appropriate techniques and equipment.
4. Examine injured persons and administer first aid as needed.
5. Contact emergency medical personnel for serious injuries.
6. Perform general facility cleaning duties.
7. Keep supervisors informed of significant issues or concerns.
8. Maintain a safe work environment and respond to hazardous situations promptly.
9. Perform related duties as assigned.
10. Candidates must be certified or become certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding. Training is available through Cleveland Metroparks in May 2025 if not certified.
11. Pass a waterfront lifeguard training module conducted in-house.
12. Minimum age of 16 years old by the first day of employment; Lifeguard Supervisor candidates must be at least 18.
13. Candidates are subject to fingerprinting and background checks.

Employment Details

Employment runs from mid-May through August, including holidays and weekends. Uniforms are provided.
