Job description

Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Waterfront Engineer to work with one of our largest government contractors in Chesapeake, VA. The Waterfront Engineer is more of a reactive engineer. They are not the ones who are designing out the work but fixing when a problem arises. We call them the Engineering SME’s because they have the technical background to be able to engineer a solution. These problems can be as little as a bolt not fitting to as large as a hatch not aligning flush to the submarine. They will then work with the hands-on team (Outside Machinist, Welders, and CNC Machinist) and Project team to engineer a solution. They will then update the work packages once approved by the government.

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working with submarines in some sort of mechanical overhaul capacity (could be as a hands-on mechanic, engineer, or engineering technician)
  • Ability to read drawings and designs
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
