Waterfront & Coastal Engineer / Project Manager

Join GEI Consultants, Inc. as a Waterfront & Coastal Engineer / Project Manager. Our waterfront and coastal design group is looking for a professional with a passion for waterfront projects to join our Mid-Atlantic offices. This role involves collaborating with senior technical experts on various projects such as community waterfronts, marinas, marine terminals, recreational piers, harbors, and waterfront parks.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing a range of heavy civil, waterfront, and coastal projects of different complexities and sizes.
• Developing project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Leading design efforts, including preparing construction drawings, contract documents, technical specifications, regulatory filings, cost estimates, and reports.
• Overseeing on-site field staff and communicating with clients and contractors.
• Providing technical guidance and training to staff.
• Supporting business development through proposal writing, client engagement, and networking.
• Mentoring junior staff members.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Waterfront, Coastal, or Structural Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in waterfront and coastal design projects with structural components; experience in marine, bridge, or heavy civil engineering preferred.
• Professional engineer registration in the Atlantic and/or New England states or ability to obtain reciprocity within a year.
• Willingness to travel for site visits, client meetings, and business development.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills:

• Managing projects through all phases of engineering design.
• Experience with regulatory/environmental permitting for waterfront projects.
• Knowledge of coastal circulation and wave modeling, supporting designs like piers, docks, rip-rap, seawalls, bulkheads, and marinas.
• Supporting beach nourishment and living shoreline projects.
• Understanding of hydraulic modeling for stormwater and coastal outfalls.
• Excellent communication skills.
