Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Wildlife Biologist to oversee Bear Island wetlands management, supervise public hunt programs, and monitor invasive species. The successful candidate will coordinate budgets, maintain work plans, and ensure data collection and reporting are aligned with management goals.

Qualifications include a master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field (or a bachelor's with two years of relevant experience).

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, wildlife management or related field with 2 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage freshwater and brackish habitats for waterfowl.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and conduct wetland habitat management on Bear Island.
  • Monitor and control invasive plant species as discovered.
  • Maintain work plans and objectives for waterfowl area infrastructure.
  • Maintain necessary paperwork, perform purchasing duties, compile reports, track budgets and update management plan.
  • Supervise and conduct public hunt programs and other public use programs.
  • Supervise and conduct maintenance of non-wetland related infrastructure and upland habitat.
  • Band waterfowl both on site and off property.
  • Collect survey data as required.
