Your impact

We’re looking for an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead municipal water and wastewater treatment plant and conveyance projects from planning and design through construction and startup. Based in our Davie, Florida office, you’ll work with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects that improve treatment capacity, reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term service for Florida communities.

You’ll manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk, while coordinating technical work across process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and other disciplines. Projects may include treatment plant upgrades, expansions, process improvements, rehabilitation, and new facilities.

You’ll build trusted relationships with municipal clients, understand their priorities, and help deliver practical, high-quality solutions. You’ll also contribute to business development by identifying client needs, supporting project pursuits and proposals, developing teaming relationships, and helping grow Jacobs’ water and wastewater work in Florida.

This role is a good fit for a project leader who can balance technical understanding, sound project controls, client service, and team development in a consulting environment.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Manage water and wastewater treatment projects through planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Lead project teams in defining scope, developing work plans, and meeting agreed schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and integrate process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and architectural work.
  • Oversee the development and review of technical deliverables, including studies, design reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Manage project financials, forecasts, staffing, change control, risks, and progress reporting; take timely action to address issues that may affect delivery.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintain regular communication, and address project needs and concerns.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utilities, contractors, and other stakeholders on project requirements, permitting, and approvals.
  • Support procurement and construction-phase services, including bid evaluations, responses to contractor questions, submittal reviews, site visits, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Promote quality assurance and quality control, safe work practices, and consistent use of Jacobs’ project delivery processes.
  • Coach and support project team members, encourage collaboration, and help build a strong, accountable team.
  • Contribute to client relationship development, market strategy, proposals, interviews, and other business development activities.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater engineering and project delivery, including treatment plant projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or the ability to obtain Florida licensure.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary projects, including responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client coordination.
  • Working knowledge of water or wastewater treatment processes and the planning, design, and delivery of treatment plant projects.
  • Experience preparing or overseeing engineering studies, design reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, technical teams, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • A master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with municipal clients and Florida water or wastewater utilities.
