Job summary

Burgess & Niple in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead planning and design of water and wastewater facilities. You will serve as project manager or technical SME for clients, oversee design delivery, and guide project teams to meet schedule and budget.

You will develop business relationships, prepare proposals, mentor junior staff, and support Indiana business development with SOQs and client interviews.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
• PE registration in Indiana or ability to register via reciprocity.
• 8+ years of water/wastewater experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Prior project management experience is a plus.
• Experience with design delivery and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Self-motivated and adaptable; able to learn virtual collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and mentor junior design staff.
• Actively lead and participate in project delivery to ensure schedule and budget adherence.
• Support development of strong client relationships with existing and prospective clients.

B&N Water/Wastewater Project Manager Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Manager and/or technical subject matter expert for selected clients/projects
• Lead the planning and design of water/wastewater projects. Typical projects may include water/wastewater treatment plants, water transmission mains, water booster stations, sanitary sewers, sanitary force mains, sanitary pump stations, and developing master plans.
• Manage select projects to meet success goals and oversee other Engineers in the delivery of projects. Working with office and business leaders, establish goals and budgets.
• Lead business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management. Create an exemplary client experience throughout the project delivery process.
• Assist business development leaders in Indiana to develop SOQ's and participate in client interviews, where necessary.
• Train, coach, and mentor junior design staff in developing and delivering design projects.
• Actively lead and participate in project delivery to create an exemplary client experience by delivering work on schedule and budget.
• Support development of strong client relationships with existing and prospective clients.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering, or equivalent engineering program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Indiana; or ability to register through reciprocity.
• 8+ years of related water/wastewater experience.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Prior Project Management experience a plus.
• Experience with design delivery and the ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team environment.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, including the capability to learn virtual collaboration tools.
