Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Manager in Billings, Montana. You will plan and manage multi‑discipline water projects, coordinate engineers, and maintain client relationships while aligning with regulatory reviews.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage small to medium planning projects or large routine projects.
  • Coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team through project development.
  • Establish client relations and participate in meetings.
  • Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct design development and contract document sessions with staff.
  • Coordinate workload to ensure documents are completed on schedule.
  • Track finances and adjust team effort to stay on schedule.
  • Collaborate with the Project Controller and Department Manager for reviews.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Water/Wastewater Project Manager (Montana)

Location: United States – Montana – Billings

Annual Salary: $109,260 – $156,085 (based on experience and location).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single-discipline planning projects or large routine projects.
  • Independently coordinate work of engineers and balance planning team throughout entire project’s development.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
  • Participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with other staff.
  • Coordinate workload throughout entire project development, ensuring completion of documents on schedule.
  • Track financial aspects of projects, adjust work effort with team to stay within agreed‑to schedule.
  • Collaborate with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with MS Office and MS Project (Access experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Commitment to active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
