Job summary

Cochran, a growing civil engineering firm with 7 Missouri offices, is seeking a Project Engineer in the Water/Wastewater Division at its Union, Missouri headquarters. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in design and project coordination, with an EIT certification and PE licensure in progress or obtained.

Responsibilities include leading water and wastewater projects from planning to construction, preparing calculations and reports, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
• EIT certification is required.
• PE licensure is preferred or actively pursuing. Application is encouraged for candidates pursuing licensure.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater design and construction.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or related design software.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead water/wastewater projects from planning and design through construction.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design plans, and specifications.
• Assist in budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination for projects.
• Conduct field investigations and site visits as needed.
• Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff.
• Review RFIs, submittals, and contractor inquiries during construction.
