Job summary

WSP is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer for our Chicago, Illinois office to work on projects within the Earth & Environment Team. The role involves developing processes and infrastructure for water supply, wastewater treatment, and environmental remediation, while ensuring quality and adherence to industry standards.

You will assist with data collection, process drawings, and documentation, and collaborate with engineers and regulators to deliver projects on time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or closely related discipline.
• 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience in environmental engineering.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Experience with water quality parameters, water/wastewater treatment processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and permitting processes.
• Proficient MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic professional process engineering work for water and wastewater projects across multiple industries.
• Collect and compile data from samples for chemical analysis and maintain QC standards.
• Assist in site assessments and provide entry-level technical support on design issues.
• Perform mass and energy balances and input data into standard programs under supervision.
• Assist in preparing process drawings and documents (PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets).
• Prepare drafts of simple technical work plans and reports under supervision.
• Travel to client sites for field investigations and project oversight.
