Job summary

The City of Bonner Springs is seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator to join the Public Works team. Under direction, you will perform routine plant rounds, monitor equipment, adjust pumps, collect samples, and maintain logs to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a high school diploma, knowledge of treatment processes, ability to work after hours, and willingness to obtain Kansas operator certificates.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned treatment plant rounds; inspects, monitors, troubleshoots, and documents plant processes by reading gauges, dials, graphs, online analyzers, SCADA systems and other instrumentation.
• Operates and adjusts plant pumps, motors and other equipment to maintain proper operations.
• Collects and documents liquid and solid samples and performs routine water quality laboratory tests in coordination with the laboratory.
• Maintains, updates and submits plant operation logs and reports; performs calculations related to plant activities.
• Mixes and adds treatment chemicals and handles chlorine cylinder tanks in accordance with regulations.
• Operates heavy equipment as needed and coordinates with maintenance and contractors on repairs and projects.
• Trains staff on treatment methods, develops schedules, and ensures plant coverage during shifts.
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal codes and safety requirements.
