Job summary

The Kankakee River Metropolitan Agency (KRMA) seeks an Assistant Superintendent to lead the operations and maintenance of the POTW. You will report to the Superintendent and guide a team including Operations Manager and specialists, ensuring reliable plant performance.

The role requires 2–5 years in supervisory POTW leadership, a relevant degree, and a Class 1 license or the ability to obtain within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–5 years of supervisory leadership at a POTW.
• Class 1 Wastewater Operator License (or ability to obtain within 12 months).

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operation and maintenance of the POTW facility.
• Direct daily work assignments for Operations and Engineering staff.
• Procure plant equipment, parts, and supplies.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Oversee asset management software and work order system.
• Monitor processes for regulatory compliance and permit requirements.
• Coordinate with laboratory personnel on process control decisions.
• Attend Board of Directors meetings and prepare reports.
