Job summary

Fleis & VandenBrink's FVOP division in West Michigan is seeking a Water / Wastewater Operations Specialist to join our team. You will operate and maintain treatment plants, water distribution and sewer collection systems, and respond to emergencies on a rotating weekend/holiday schedule.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, Michigan drinking water or wastewater certifications (preferred), and strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required.
• Team player willing to pitch in.
• Possession of a Class F-4, D-4, or S-4 or higher Michigan Municipal drinking water certification, industrial certifications, or Class D or higher Michigan Municipal wastewater certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow oral and written technical directions.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and maintain high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively with employees, customers and the public.
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform water / wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
• Operate and maintain water distribution systems (mains, valves, and hydrants).
• Operate and maintain sewer collection systems (pump stations).
• Respond to water and sewer emergencies.
• Perform water / wastewater sampling and monitoring.
• Perform laboratory analysis for water quality parameters.
• Perform housekeeping and facility maintenance.
• Keep accurate records.
