Job summary

The City of Portland is seeking a full-time Utilities worker to install, maintain, and repair water distribution and wastewater collection systems under the supervision of the Utilities Supervisor. The role requires operating heavy equipment and working outdoors—including in extreme weather—and participates in after-hours stand-by shifts.

Applicants must pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check and possess a Texas Class C Driver License, plus relevant water/wastewater licenses

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must pass physical examination, drug screening, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair water distribution and wastewater collection systems under supervision.
• Operate pumps, air compressors, backhoes, excavators, dump trucks, forklifts, and related equipment.
• Work outdoors, in extreme heat or inclement weather; participate in after-hours stand-by rotation.
