Job summary

DOWL is seeking a Water & Wastewater Intern for Summer 2027 in Billings, MT. The role offers mentorship and exposure to a range of civil engineering tasks, including water resources work and field support.

Interns will assist with GIS mapping, hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using HY-8, HEC-RAS, and HEC-HMS, and will help prepare plans and design packages while collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level course work in pursuit of a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering, preferably with a focus on water.
• Driving is an essential job function or a valid driver’s license is required to support legitimate business purposes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field investigations, analysis of alternative solutions, technical report writing, project design, and construction inspection.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of design projects.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications to estimate construction costs.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using computer applications such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HY-8.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
