Job summary

Tesco Controls is seeking a Field Service Technician to lead on-site commissioning and startup activities for water and wastewater control projects. You’ll troubleshoot instrumentation, PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls while documenting startup processes and results.

The role requires hands-on field work with occasional overnight travel across the Central Coast region and is based with on-site client support and a Salinas office presence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with relevant field experience preferred.
• Degree is an advantage for advanced roles.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to travel across the territory, stay overnight, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Experience with instrumentation calibration and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support on-site commissioning and startup activities for water/wastewater projects.
• Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Calibrate gauges and sensors; document startup activities.
• Respond to field issues and perform repairs on PLCs, transmitters, HMIs, and related equipment.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, compliant project delivery.
• Inspect and commission instrumentation and analytical sensors (pH, turbidity, etc.).
• Wire modifications to panels per drawings and install field devices.
• Maintain thorough documentation of field startup processes and results.
• Travel within Central Coast territory and support client sites as required.
