Water / Wastewater Infrastructure Senior Project Engineer

The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a Project Engineer in Bellevue, Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, Tukwila, Woodinville, or Everett, WA. The ideal candidate will support and lead the delivery of complex municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater projects. This role is suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage major design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and play a key role in mentoring staff and supporting client relationships.

What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
  • Lead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems, including:
    • Conveyance and pumping systems
    • Storage and distribution systems
    • Collection systems and treatment facilities
  • Manage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards
  • Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projects
Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff
  • Review work for technical accuracy and quality
  • Support team development and contribute to a collaborative environment
Client Engagement & Business Development
  • Build and maintain relationships with municipal (special purpose district and/or city) clients and regulatory agencies
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and pursuit strategies
  • Participate in professional organizations and industry engagement
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain
  • 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems
  • Strong experience in municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater system design
  • Proven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience managing or supporting projects through all phases of delivery
  • Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination
  • Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modelling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
