Water / Wastewater Infrastructure Senior Project Engineer

The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a Project Engineer in Bellevue, Olympia, Tacoma, Seattle, Tukwila, Woodinville, or Everett, WA. The ideal candidate will support and lead the delivery of complex municipal (special purpose district and/or city) water and wastewater projects. This role is suited for an experienced engineer who can independently manage major design tasks, contribute to project delivery, and play a key role in mentoring staff and supporting client relationships.
- Lead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems, including:
- Conveyance and pumping systems
- Storage and distribution systems
- Collection systems and treatment facilities
- Manage complex design tasks and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards
- Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projects
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff
- Review work for technical accuracy and quality
- Support team development and contribute to a collaborative environment
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal (special purpose district and/or city) clients and regulatory agencies
- Support proposal development, interviews, and pursuit strategies
- Participate in professional organizations and industry engagement
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain
- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems
- Strong experience in municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater system design
- Proven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Experience managing or supporting projects through all phases of delivery
- Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination
- Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modelling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
