Job summary

David Evans and Associates, Inc. in Washington is seeking a Water/Wastewater Infrastructure Engineer to join our Water and Environment team. You will perform planning and design for water and wastewater systems, with emphasis on reliability, sustainability, and regulatory coordination.

The role supports project delivery, mentoring junior staff, and collaboration with drafters and engineers. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an EIT are required, with PE preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; EIT required; PE preferred or ability to obtain.
• 4–8 years of experience in civil engineering with exposure to water and wastewater system design.
• Experience supporting municipal water/wastewater projects and familiarity with public agency standards.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

• Perform planning and design for water and wastewater infrastructure systems
• Support development of:
  • Conveyance and pumping systems
  • Storage and distribution systems
  • Collection systems and treatment facilities
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications
• Assist with permitting and regulatory coordination

Project Support

• Contribute to project delivery including scope, schedule, and budget adherence
• Support task leadership on projects and coordinate with internal teams
• Collaborate with drafters, EITs, and other technical staff

Growth & Development

• Participate in mentorship and development of junior staff
• Continue developing technical expertise and professional skills
• Contribute to a collaborative environment
• Participate in professional organizations and industry engagement

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); EIT required, PE or ability to obtain preferred
• 4–8 years of experience in civil engineering, with exposure to water and wastewater system design
• Experience supporting municipal (city and/or special purpose district) water/wastewater projects
• Working knowledge of water/wastewater design principles and engineering fundamentals
• Familiarity with public agency standards, permitting, and regulatory requirements
• Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)
• Ability to support design tasks and collaborate effectively within project teams
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
