Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator to join our team in San Antonio, TX. You will play a key role in pursuing and planning water and wastewater infrastructure projects, developing accurate, competitive estimates, and partnering with operations and project management from bid through handoff.

The ideal candidate understands water/wastewater construction, self-performed work, and can evaluate scope, constructability, risk, and cost beyond basic takeoffs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field preferred.
• Experience estimating water and wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and heavy civil construction.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing and productivity.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs and contract documents.
• Strong quantity takeoff, cost analysis and scope review skills.
• Experience with HCSS, Primavera P6, Bluebeam and On-Screen Takeoff preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.
