Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Estimator in Detroit, MI to pursue and plan water and wastewater projects from bid through handoff. You will develop accurate estimates, evaluate scope, and work with operations and project management to ensure successful project execution.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering/Construction Management background, experience estimating water/wastewater projects, familiarity with self-performed concrete, and strong cost-analysis skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required or preferred.
• Experience estimating water and/or wastewater construction projects.
• Experience with self-performed structural concrete and/or heavy civil construction.

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, process piping, and related infrastructure.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for self-performed labor, materials, and equipment.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals and ensure scope coverage.
• Evaluate project phasing, staging, logistics, constructability, and sequencing.
• Develop preliminary schedules to support estimating efforts.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, value-engineering ideas, and cost-saving strategies.
• Participate in bid reviews with operations and project management.
• Prepare detailed project budgets and lead estimating-to-project-team handoffs.
• Support subcontractor and supplier buyout following award.
• Partner with operations and project teams to help set projects up for successful execution.
