Job description

RG Miller | DCCM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join its collaborative and dynamic Water/Wastewater team in Houston, TX. This individual will serve a key function in providing exceptional engineering experience by delivering engineering designs associated with the construction and installation of the District’s water and sewer systems, ensuring clean water and the disposal of sewage and wastewater in the communities they service. In this role, you will demonstrate hands-on experience in designing water and wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and the water permitting process.

What you will do:

  • Participate in project “kick-off” meetings to understand the scope and nature of the project, confirming all necessary documentation and determining design criteria.
  • Gather documentation needed to create design plans, determine drawing sequence, and execute design presentation.
  • Conduct research, documenting the results of analysis and research findings.
  • Prepare engineering reports, permit applications, and submittals for Agency review. Review Agency comments and provide responses.
  • Serve as project engineer in the design and review of projects to include complex lift stations, water and sanitary sewer treatment plants, paving, and site drainage.
  • Preparation and design of site drainage and grading plans.
  • Perform design calculations for all aspects of the project, including but not limited to pump curves, equipment sizing and materials selection, process flow, facilities capacities.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, coordinate with project manager to determine project cost, project design alternatives, and pros/cons to design alternatives.
  • Review plan quantities to ensure accuracy of numbers and assemble bid documents for review with the construction management team.
  • Perform site visits to collect the research.
  • Coordinate and communicate with local review authorities, as required.
  • Perform reviews of and responses to RFIs and Submittals.
  • Communicate with and provide guidance to Contractors during construction phase.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Your Qualifications:

  • Possess valid Texas (TX) Professional Engineer licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants & Waterline design and modeling.
  • Possess current knowledge of local, state, and federal design codes and regulations, as well as industry regulations and practices.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and legal documents.
  • Knowledge of current industry technology with the capability and efficiency to use engineering software for completing project assignments.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage, motivate, mentor and lead others.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • A collaborative team builder with excellent interpersonal and social skills.
