Job summary

Waggoner Engineering seeks a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Birmingham, AL team. The role focuses on planning, design and technical assistance within budget/time constraints for projects managed by the Discipline Manager and design team.

Responsibilities include analyses, design of water/sewer systems, evaluating existing conditions and preparing reports and contract documents. EIT is preferred and 2–5 years of relevant experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent required.
• EIT registration preferred or similar credential.
• Two to five years of experience in water/wastewater engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering analyses and evaluations to support planning and design of civil works.
• Designs water distribution systems, water supply and treatment components, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Evaluates existing system conditions and recommends remedial measures.
• Documents communications with clients throughout project development and execution.
• Reviews project status with project manager and team to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
• Attends project management meetings and contributes to progress updates.
• Assists Project Manager in preparing engineering studies and reports.
• Prepares project designs using sound engineering principles and software tools.
• Assists in preparation of contract documents and technical specifications.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering
