Waggoner Engineering, Inc. in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our design team. The role focuses on planning, design and technical assistance to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, have 2–5 years of experience, and an EIT is preferred. The position offers a flexible/hybrid schedule and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering required.
• 2–5 years of experience in water/wastewater or civil engineering.
• EIT preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering analyses and evaluations for planning and design of civil works projects.
• Designs water distribution systems, water supply and treatment components, sanitary sewers, and POTWs.
• Assesses existing system conditions and develops remedial measures.
• Maintains communications with clients during project development and completion.
• Participates in project status reviews with the project manager and team.
• Attends project management meetings and assists in preparing studies and reports.
• Prepares project design using engineering principles and software.
• Assists in preparing contract documents and technical specifications.

Job description

Waggoner Engineering is actively seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our team in Birmingham, AL. The focus of this position is providing planning, design and technical assistance to the Discipline Manager and other members of the design team in delivering projects within budgetary and time constraints.

Primary Responsibilities

• Performs engineering analyses and evaluations (primarily computer-based) in support of the planning and design of civil works projects.
• Performs analysis and design of water distribution systems; water supply and treatment components; sanitary sewer systems and components; transmission, treatment and disposal systems; POTWs and other projects.
• Conducts assessment and evaluation of existing system conditions and develops recommended remedial measures.
• Maintains and documents written and verbal communications with clients throughout the development and completion of a project.
• Conducts project status review with project manager and team members, checking accuracy of work completed, and monitors timeliness of project completion.
• Attends meetings on project management.
• Assists Project Manager in preparation of engineering studies and reports.
• Prepares project design using sound engineering principles, engineering software and tools.
• Assists in preparation of contract documents and technical specifications.
