Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Designer/EIT in Pensacola, FL. You will work under project engineers on the design and modeling of water resources projects for municipal authorities, focusing on hydraulics, hydrology, and stormwater systems.

Preferred candidates hold an Engineer in Training designation or will be placed into a Design Coordinator role with a path to EIT. The position emphasizes an employee-owned culture and collaborative, cross-disciplinary problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
• Experience with AutoCAD and hydraulic modeling software.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task.

Responsibilities

• Apply design engineering and modeling techniques in developing water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities.
• Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater modeling, data collection and presentations.
• Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies.
• Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Water/Wastewater Designer/EIT, we’ll count on you to:

• Work under project engineers on the application of various design engineering and modeling techniques in the development of water resource projects for federal, state and local municipalities
• Focus on hydraulics and hydrology modeling, stormwater collection systems modeling, data collection, assimilation, and presentations
• Focus on projects including flood control, river design, stream grade control structures, dike systems, levees, stream channel restoration/rehabilitation, wetland and lake restoration, watershed issues and non-point source loading and point source design.
• Produce design calculations, draft technical reports and perform water resources studies
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Preference given to local candidates

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
• Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, standard CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, and hydraulic modeling software
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
