Job summary
Bolton & Menk, Inc. in Ames, IA is seeking a Design Engineer, EIT to join our Water/Wastewater team. This entry-level civil engineering role supports project managers in design and construction phase activities on municipal water and wastewater projects.
Graduates or an EIT with 1–3 years of experience are welcome. You will assist with design calculations, drawings, specifications, and field observations, with opportunities to grow and contribute to community infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Certified Engineer-in-Training or able to obtain within 12 months of hire.
- Experience with water or wastewater treatment.
- Working knowledge of CAD and design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, REVIT).
- Valid driver’s license for site travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Engineers with design and construction phase activities on municipal projects.
- Perform basic design computations, preliminary layout and design, and rough drafts of reports/feasibility studies.
- Assist with project plans, specifications, and cost/quantity take-off estimates.
- Support construction observation and coordination with contractors and city staff.
