Job summary

PACE is seeking a Design Engineer with a focused background in water resources to work on water and wastewater systems. You will perform hydraulic calculations, assist in field work and prepare drawings and specifications. The role requires travel to project sites in Arizona and ultimately office-based work at PACE.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in civil/environmental engineering, 1–5 years' experience, and AutoCAD proficiency. EIT eligibility is expected; ArcGIS experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or related engineering required.
• Passed EIT or eligible to sit for the exam.
• University coursework in water, hydraulics and water/wastewater processes.
• Water and sewer hydraulic modeling experience.
• 1–5 years of experience.
• Creative problem‑solving skills and strong communication.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD; ability to travel within Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing.

Job description

PACE is seeking a Design Engineer with a focused background in water resources (water and wastewater systems). This position will entail performing a wide variety of engineering analyses and design requiring excellent engineering ability, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Initially, the position will involve supporting a number of projects in the construction phase, requiring travel to project sites, but ultimately, the position is intended to be performed mainly from PACE’s office. Engineering functions of this position will include:

• Water treatment
• Wastewater treatment
• Pumping and water conveyance facilities
• Water storage facilities
• Construction administration / support

Responsibilities may include:

• Perform hydraulic calculations and equipment sizing
• Initial field / construction work
• Construction document preparation (specifications and drawings)
• Research
• Technical writing
• Hydraulic modeling
• Conduct site visits as required
• Engineering support during construction including RFI and submittal responses, coordination on construction matters, construction site engineering support, and attending construction progress meetings
• Coordination with vendors

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or related engineering
• Passed EIT exam or is eligible to sit for the exam
• University courses completed including physical, chemical and biological processes of water, hydraulics, and water and wastewater
• Water and sewer hydraulic modeling experience
• 1-5 years of experience
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentations
• Ability to work in a team environment and self-directed
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Ability to travel to project sites throughout Arizona to support projects

Preferences:

• esri ArcGIS experience is a plus

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; color vision is very helpful. Occasional field work may be required and includes walking through uneven, rugged terrain, requiring good balance, ability to walk moderate to long distances, and good general vision and depth of field vision.

The noise level in the office work environment is moderate. May be required to work in an external environment in all weather conditions.

Salary Range

Competitive Salary commensurate with experience and capabilities, with a range of $65,000-$90,000. This salary range is subject to change based on market conditions, timing and other factors outside of the control of PACE.
