Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) in San Antonio seeks a Civil Engineer with 3–6 years of experience to join our growing water/wastewater team. You will design pipelines and supporting systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation, coordinate with clients, and contribute to project delivery.

Candidates should hold a ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in civil engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from ABET accredited program.
• 3–6 years of experience in civil engineering.
• Experience in water and wastewater linear pipeline design required.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with local clients at the city, county, and state level.
• Experience with ArcGIS and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Assist with alternative studies.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other data to complete a task.
• Assist in designing projects per client specifications using design software and drawing tools.

Position summary: Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Assist with alternative studies
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task
• Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools
• Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
• 3-6 years of experience in the field of civil engineering
• Experience in water and wastewater linear pipeline design required
• Proficient in discipline specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Experience working with local clients at the city, county, and state level
• Experience with ArcGIS
• Experience with MS Project

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs.) may be required as needed.
