Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking a Construction Inspector to oversee contractor work on water and wastewater projects and ensure compliance with plans, safety standards, and documentation.

You will maintain meticulous records, communicate progress, and assist with contract-related negotiations. A valid driver’s license and relevant licenses or the ability to obtain them are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Two years of technical education beyond high school is preferred.
• Associates Degree in Construction Technology or related field preferred; or two years of equivalent experience.
• Must be proficient in interpretation of design drawings and basic computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets).
• Experience with construction inspection and OSHA/safety practices is required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor contractor installation of water and wastewater systems per specs and standards.
• Ensure adherence to the company safety program on construction projects.
• Maintain records of plans, drawings, mains, valves and appurtenances installed.
• Keep daily project inspection reports and communicate progress to supervisor.
• Verify contractor payments and change orders; assist in negotiations as needed.
• Check proposed plans for omissions or constructability issues.
• Communicate with customers, residents, vendors, officials, and regulators regarding issues.
• Complete other administrative duties as needed by supervisor.
• Some out-of-town travel for AQUA Construction Inspection may be required.
