McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in St. Louis, MO.

This role focuses on estimating for water and wastewater treatment plant projects nationwide, including earthwork and sitework. You will develop cost models, perform quantity take-offs, review bids, and prepare subcontract exhibits while collaborating with engineers to influence project design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering or related major required.
• Self-perform civil experience (preconstruction or operations) strongly desired.
• General knowledge of civil construction, especially water & wastewater plant projects.
• Familiarity with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, On‑Screen Takeoff is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop or manage civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews and prepare final estimate presentations for owners.
• Evaluate bids and develop scope comparison documents.
• Prepare contractual exhibits for subcontracts and coordinate with subcontractors.
