Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks an experienced Civil Estimator to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in Phoenix. You will lead civil estimates for water and wastewater projects, focusing on earthwork, sitework, and yard piping across the country.

You will perform quantity take-offs, develop GMP estimates, review bids, and collaborate with engineers to optimize designs and pricing while representing McCarthy at industry events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, or related major required.
• Self-perform civil experience (preconstruction or operations) is strongly desired.
• General knowledge of civil construction and water/wastewater treatment projects.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and geotechnical reports.
• Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, On-Screen Takeoff) preferred.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Develop or manage civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews and assemble bid presentations for owners.
• Evaluate bids and develop scope comparison documents.
• Prepare contractual exhibits for subcontracts and coordinate with subcontractors.
• Collaborate with engineers to influence project design.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients and represent McCarthy at industry events.
• Review project documents to identify value engineering opportunities and alternative pricing.
• Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope, materials, and schedule.
