Job summary

City of Arlington is seeking a Water Utilities Technician to assist with maintenance and repair tasks related to the city’s water infrastructure. You will participate in meter replacements, AMI system upkeep, flow testing, and hydrant work.

The role involves field activity across approximately 150,000 meters and requires physical endurance. Under supervision, you will learn to diagnose leaks, perform basic service repairs, and coordinate with Meter and Capital Improvement teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with meter replacements and basic water service repairs.
• Ability to operate office equipment and use Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Respect for safety procedures and PPE.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing and replacing water meters from ¾” to 10”.
• Help with AMI system maintenance and data collection.
• Conduct flow tests and leak investigations.
• Assist with fire hydrant replacements and related tasks.
• Support the Meter and Capital Improvement Teams as needed.
