Job summary

The City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is seeking an entry-level Electrical/Instrumentation Technician. This role supports construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of water utility systems, instrumentation, and control equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least two years of relevant electrical work experience, or three years in an electrical apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of full-time experience in installing, maintaining, and/or repairing complex electrical/electronic equipment? in a large waterworks system and wastewater treatment plant.
• Alternative: 3 years in an electrical apprenticeship program.
• CWEA Electrical Instrumentation certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of water utility and water reclamation motors, panels, switches, regulatory and lighting systems.
• Assist with inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of instruments, controllers, and related equipment.
• Work with low voltage panels and circuits (600V or less).
• Support emergency call-outs and on-call requirements as needed.
