BrightView Holdings, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Landscaper III to provide skilled landscape maintenance for industrial, commercial, and public properties. You will perform complex tasks independently, operate commercial-grade equipment safely, and care for plant materials and landscape elements.

The ideal candidate has a valid driver's license, can pass background checks, and demonstrates accident-free performance while following safety and quality standards on outdoor sites.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check and drug test.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Certified on level 3 equipment (bed edger, chainsaw, power pole, pruner, leaf vacuum, skid steer).

Responsibilities

• Proactively maintain site detail.
• Drive company water truck and water assigned locations/plants.
• Lead and perform job duties when the Crew Leader is not on site.
• Work with the Crew Leader to solve problems and overcome schedule challenges.
• Complete punch list items without supervision.
• Offer solutions to deliver quality results.
• Cut turf with power mowers, trim, edge, and operate a blower.
• Prune shrubs/low trees to improve shape or growth.
• Identify irrigation problems and coordinate fixes with Crew Leader.
• Repair broken sprinkler heads.
• Plant and maintain flowerbeds.
• Operate edger/line trimmer along borders and structures.
• Clean up debris and mulch leaves as needed.
• Weed with hoe or hand tools.
• Train team on preventative maintenance for trucks and trailers.
• Identify common weeds and recommend controls.
• Coach team on safety topics and tailgate talks.
• Assist Crew Leader/Production Manager in coaching team members.
• Maintain a polite, friendly demeanor with guests and customers.

Job Summary

• The Landscaper III provides skilled landscape maintenance for industrial, commercial, and public properties. Working independently, this role performs complex landscaping tasks, operates commercial-grade equipment safely, and ensures the proper care of plant materials and other landscape elements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Proactively maintain site detail
• Drive company water truck and water assigned locations/plants.
• Lead and perform job duties when the Crew Leader is not on site
• Work with the Crew Leader to solve problems and overcome job and schedule challenges
• Complete punch list items without supervision
• Offer solutions to deliver quality results
• Cut turf using various-sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-poweredblower
• Prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damagedbranches
• Identify irrigation system problems and work with the Crew Leader to correct
• Properly repair broken sprinkler heads
• Plant and maintain flowerbeds
• Operate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and otherobjects
• Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing.
• Mulch the leaves and organic matter whenmowing.
• Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hulahoe
• Train team members on preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers; connect trucks and trailers safely and correctly
• Identify common weeds and recommend methods for control
• Coach and remind the team of the “Safety Topic” tailgate talk throughout the week/month
• Assist the Crew Leader/Production Manager in coaching team members
• Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with guests andcustomers

Education and Experience:

• Valid driver's license
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
• At least 18 years old
• Enthusiastic and dependable
• Ability to safely work with equipment like power saws and cutters
• Certified on level 3 equipment (bed edger, chainsaw, power pole, pruner, leaf vacuum, skid steer)
• Has demonstrated 6 months of accident-free performance

Physical Demands/Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
• Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
• Be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)
• Possess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• Able to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).
• Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
• Able to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)
• You are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)
• Landscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver’s license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
• Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.

Work Environment:

• Ability to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100°F, temperatures below 32°F, various levels of humidity)
• Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
• Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.
• Ability to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.
• Ability to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes.
