Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Water Treatment Project Engineer for our Arizona offices located in Tempe, Tucson, and Goodyear. You will support project engineering, design, planning, and management for water treatment and potable reuse projects across Arizona and the Southwest, collaborating with internal experts and clients.

The role requires a civil/environmental engineering background, PE licensure, and 5–12 years of municipal water experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering
• PE license
• 5-12 years of experience in municipal water treatment, water quality, water treatment technology, or manufacturing
• Experience delivering multi-year projects in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, clients, and regulators
• Self-starter with attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people

Responsibilities

• Project engineering/management, design, planning, operational support with focus on water treatment/reuse and drinking water projects
• Mentor junior drinking water staff
• Coordinate with clients
• Coordinate with internal technical specialists for project delivery
• Support projects to meet client expectations, budgets, and quality requirements
• Follow Hazen processes to ensure quality delivery of engineering projects for clients
• Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments on small to medium projects
• Perform planning, studies, design, and support of projects through design, construction, and operation

This role will support project engineering and management, and the development of water and potable reuse projects throughout Arizona, the Southwest and across the country. You will be a part of the Hazen Water and Reuse practice groups engaging, collaborating, and supporting water and reuse projects, and opportunities across the country as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Your role will include, project engineering/management, design, planning, operational support with a focus on water treatment / reuse and drinking water projects

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering
• PE license
• 5-12 years of experience in municipal water treatment, water quality, water treatment technology, or manufacturing
• Experience in successfully delivering projects spanning multiple years in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
• Proficient in all MS Office based computer software
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
• Self-starter with attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Must be capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Civil/Environmental Engineering
