Position Overview

Golden State Water Company, one of the largest investor-owned water utilities in the U.S., delivers quality water to over 1 million people across California. We prioritize customer service and have been in business for over 90 years.

Job Responsibilities

1. Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including surface water treatment plants, pumping and chemical systems, storage facilities, and control systems.
2. Assist with maintenance of plant equipment and facilities.
3. Perform water level measurements, chemical loading/unloading, and basic laboratory analyses.
4. Collect water samples and perform related calculations for dosing, flow, and pressure.
5. Follow all safety standards and practices.
6. Respond to emergencies and be available for after-hours work as needed.
7. Reside within 25 miles of the water system boundary for emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Familiar with PC applications.
• SWRCB Water Distribution Operator 1 certification (required if no T1 certification).
• Preferred: SWRCB Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 certification; must obtain Grade 2 within 24 months.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Physical ability to perform duties, including standing, lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
• Valid California driver’s license.

Experience & Skills

• One year as Water Distribution Operator or two years in water utility industry, or relevant education.
• Basic math and plumbing skills.
• Understanding of safe work practices.
