Job summary

City Of Fellsmere is looking for a skilled Water Plant Operator to ensure safe and compliant operation of our water treatment facility. You will perform routine lab analyses, maintain records, and conduct minor maintenance while adhering to all regulatory requirements.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a Class C Florida water plant operator’s license or the ability to obtain it in a reasonable time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have at least a Class C Florida water plant operator’s license or be able to obtain it in a reasonable time.
• Florida Class B CDL is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows regular maintenance schedule and completes minor repairs.
• Troubleshoots minor problems in the operations.
• Performs routine lab analysis to control water treatment process.
• Maintains daily production and lab records.
• Performs minor maintenance on facility, including painting, cleaning, washing down facility and ground maintenance.
• Water meter reading as required.
• Performs other work as required.

Job description

This is skilled work in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment facility. Responsible for safe and efficient operation of equipment used in purification of the public drinking water supply conforming to all regulatory agency requirements. This is a technical position, working independently under the general direction of the Assistant Utility Director.The following duties are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. Training and Experience

Graduation from high school or its equivalent, or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience. Must have at least a Class “C” Florida water plant operator’s license or the ability to obtain the license in a reasonable amount of time. A valid Florida class B CDL is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of water operations.
• Knowledge of basic repair of pumps and various equipment.
• Ability to read meters and charts accurately.
• Ability to maintain reports accurately and legibly.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor problems.
• Ability to perform medium duty manual labor, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Spanish speaking preferred but not required.
