American Water is seeking an Operator, Water Treatment in Illinois to support daily plant operations, monitoring, and data collection while learning treatment processes and regulatory requirements.

You will work under supervision with a shift of 7a-3:30p (Tue-Sat or Sun-Thu), with overtime and on-call as needed. The role offers growth potential and comprehensive benefits as part of a regulated utility environment.

Formación

• High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• 0-2 years experience in mechanical, industrial, environmental, or utility work.
• Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide variety of machinery and equipment is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist with startup, shutdown and operating checks of the water treatment plant under supervision.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments as directed by licensed operators.
• Monitor storage tank levels and pump station indicators and report flows, pressures, and water quality indicators.
• Inspect plant hourly or as scheduled and record data daily.
• Perform filter backwashing following SOPs.
• Load and unload chemicals, maintain inventory.
• Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory tests; report results.
• Maintain plant records including logs and worksheets.
• Assist operators in responding to water quality complaints.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintain buildings and grounds; assist with calibration and equipment work orders.
• Complete equipment work orders using asset management systems.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and follow PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
