Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Water Supply Trainee to gain hands-on experience in monitoring, maintaining, and operating the island's water treatment system under general supervision.

You will record data, collect samples, and perform basic process control while following regulatory guidelines and safety procedures. This role supports maintenance, testing, and operational readiness to serve the public, with TECQ licensure pursued within six months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required, and one year of experience in Water Treatment operations.
• Ability to obtain a Water Treatment Operator “D” license from TECQ within six months of employment.
• Possession of a valid Texas Driver’s License may be required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate water treatment processes and adjust as needed to maintain performance.
• Record readings and maintain daily operation logs.
• Collect, preserve, and store samples for laboratory analysis.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on pumps, piping, and valves.
• Ensure safety and housekeeping in work areas and support emergency response when needed.
