Job summary

The City of Salina, Kansas, is seeking a Water Plant Operator I to operate and monitor an advanced water treatment plant and distribution system. You will work varied shifts and maintain logs, collect samples, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure clean, safe water for the community.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a Kansas Class I Water Supply System Operator Certificate (or obtain within two years).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• KS Class I Water Supply System Operator Certificate or obtain within 2 years.
• 2 years of mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate an advanced water treatment plant and distribution system.
• Maintain shift logs and monitor equipment; keep records.
• Draw samples for laboratory analysis.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Perform custodial duties such as cleaning and mowing.
• Address customer concerns; respond to issues during shifts.
• Work overtime as needed and perform additional duties.
