Job summary

Colusa Indian Community Council seeks a Water Treatment Operator to operate and maintain the tribal water distribution and treatment systems under general supervision.

The incumbent will monitor plant performance via SCADA, ensure safety, and communicate with management and contractors. They will maintain logs, assist in troubleshooting, and follow PPE and LOTO policies as part of daily responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of operational experience in a water treatment facility is preferred.
• CA SWRCB Water Treatment Operator certifications (T1 and D1) are required.
• Valid California driver's license.
• Ability to operate and monitor SCADA systems.
• Commitment to safety policies and use of PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the tribe's water distribution and treatment systems under supervision.
• Monitor plant performance through SCADA interface.
• Ensure safety and report accidents or injuries to management.
• Communicate with management and contractors as needed regarding plant work.
• Ensure information is handed over during shift changes.
• Complete daily logs and lab data entries.
• Maintain a clean and organized control room and plant.
• Troubleshoot plant process issues and equipment.
• Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures at all times.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

Job description

Position Title: Water Treatment Operator

Department: Public Works

Reports to: Director of Public Works

Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Status: Regular, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the incumbent will perform the duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Tribe's water distribution and treatment systems.

The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

1. General knowledge of modes of the plant process & equipment, Operations Manual, water quality monitoring and sampling, and DDW regulatory compliance;
2. Monitor the performance and operation of the plant through the SCADA Interface;
3. Ensure the safety and well-being of him or herself and reports any accidents and injuries to management;
4. Communicate effectively to management and contractors as needed regarding any work being carried out at the plant to maintain synergy;
5. Ensure operational information is passed on during plant turn-over with shift partner;
6. Complete operational reads and lab data on log sheets and computer entries on a daily basis;
7. Record daily events in the Shift Log Book;
8. Maintain a clean and organized control room and plant;
9. Assist in troubleshooting plant process issues, equipment, and repair work;
10. Follows company safety policies and ensures that he or she wears appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE);
11. Ensure that work performed by staff meets compliance, safety codes, and follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures at all time;
12. May perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience: Equivalent of one (1) year of operational experience in water treatment facility
• Licensing:
• CA State Water Resources Control Board - Water Treatment Operator (T1) Certification
• CA State Water Resources Control Board - Water Treatment Operator (D1) Certificate
• Valid California Drivers License

SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES:

None

• Knowledge of parts inventory and warehouse operations;
• Ability to work weekends, overtime, and holidays when necessary;
• Performs tasks with minimal errors;
• Ability to be flexible with work schedule;
• Strong knowledge of water treatment processes;
• Sense of urgency toward project completion;
• Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis.
