Job summary

The Borough of Phoenixville is seeking a Water Treatment Mechanic Relief Operator to help maintain a 4.5 MGD water treatment plant and operate all plant equipment. The role includes routine maintenance, inspections, testing, and ensuring proper chemical flows under supervision of the Water Treatment Superintendent.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of related maintenance experience, knowledge of water treatment processes, and a valid PA driver's license with

Qualifications

• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years' experience in the maintenance and repair of water treatment machinery/equipment or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and standard practices utilized in the repair and maintenance of water plant equipment/machinery.
• Knowledge of water treatment principles, processes, and plant operation.
• Ability to meet approved physical standards

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Conduct periodic inspection of all plant machinery/equipment.
• Perform daily inspection of pump stations and maintain equipment located at pump sites.
• Maintain and repair meters, pumps, floats, valves, mixers, VFDs, control panels, sludge pumps, air conditioners, SCADA equipment, and lab equipment.
• Maintain and repair all stand-by generators.
• Maintain and repair chemical feed equipment.
• Operate plant equipment including trucks, motor boat, forklift, and overhead crane.
• Maintain and repair water intake areas.
• Conduct necessary tests including pH, chlorine, residual, turbidity, fluoride.
• Analyze and record test results, make necessary adjustments to chemical flows.
• Make period rounds of plant during shift, determine if equipment is properly operating.
• Maintain required licenses and classifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Water Treatment Mechanic Relief Operator

Under supervision of the Water Treatment Superintendent, the role of mechanic relief operator is to maintain proper functioning of the water treatment plant including operating all plant equipment and performing routine maintenance and repairs (4.5MGD water treatment plant).

• Perform preventative maintenance as required


• Conduct periodic inspection of all plant machinery/equipment


• Perform daily inspection of pump stations and maintain equipment located at pump sites


• Maintain and repair meters, pumps, floats, valves, mixers, variable frequency drivers (VFDs), control panels, sludge pumps, air conditioners, SCADA equipment, and lab equipment


• Maintain and repair all stand-by generators


• Maintain and repair chemical feed equipment


• Operate plant equipment including trucks, motor boat, forklift, and overhead crane


• Maintain and repair water intake areas


• Conduct necessary tests including pH, chlorine, residual, turbidity, fluoride
