Job summary

Tampa Bay Water in Florida is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Technician Trainee to learn maintenance on water treatment equipment and progress toward a Mechanical Technician I role. You will train under a Maintenance Assistant Manager and collaborate with a team supporting a 24-hour interconnected system of plants, pipelines, and pumping stations.

The position emphasizes communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, with on-the-job training, safety programs, and certification milestones

Qualifications

• Knowledge of automotive, construction or industrial mechanical maintenance principles.
• Must have working knowledge of basic computer skills with spreadsheets and databases.
• Develop working knowledge of Florida Administrative Code 62-555 within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in training on the fundamentals of proper maintenance of water treatment equipment.
• Assist in inspection, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of water plant, pump station, well field, transmission main and related equipment.
• Assist operations and maintenance teams in shutdowns, repairs and commissioning work undertaken by the Agency and contracted companies to improve and restore infrastructure and production capabilities.
• Assist operations and maintenance teams with reporting tasks such as annual well totalizer meter reads, inspections, and sample collection.
• Participate in routine and non-routine adjustment, troubleshooting and repair of highly technical equipment.
• Participate in the acceptance of chemical and fuel deliveries and chemical spill response.
