Job summary

Santa Fe County is seeking a dedicated Operations and Maintenance Worker to manage the day-to-day operations, preventive maintenance, and repairs of the county's water supply and wastewater systems. The role includes meter reading, sample collection, data entry, and reporting, with attention to safety and regulatory compliance.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, plus two years of related plumbing/maintenance experience and NM Water Systems Level 1 certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of training/experience in plumbing, pipefitting and O&M tasks.
• Must possess NM Water Systems Level 1 operator certification.

Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, and repairs County Utilities water supply facilities and wells.
• Performs meter reading and interacts with customers as necessary.
• Collects water and wastewater samples and trains in interpreting results.
• Maintains facility work areas, grounds, tools, and equipment in safe condition.
• Performs minor plumbing and pipefitting tasks as required.
• Assists in mechanical work on pumps, generators, and other equipment.
• Performs basic data entry and calculations related to water treatment.
• Performs security inspections and records operational status.
• Maintains daily shift logs and operational records.
• Performs chemical feed operations and calibration of feed pumps.
