Job summary

City of Garland is seeking an Operator in Training to learn how to operate the City's water pump stations through automated controls and to monitor the wastewater lift stations via SCADA. This role supports 24/7 call center and dispatch operations for water utility trouble calls and also handles after-hours municipal 311 and non-emergency dispatch duties.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED, with 1 year of related water utilities or dispatch experience, and must be able to obtain

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related experience in water utilities, dispatch center, or equivalent.
• Must obtain Class D Water Distribution license; Class C license within 18 months from hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate water pump stations via SCADA.
• Monitor water inflow/outflow, tank levels, and pressure.
• Monitor wastewater lift stations via SCADA.
• Provide 24/7 water utility operations and dispatch support.
• Support after-hours municipal 311 and non-emergency calls.
• Provide intra-city after-hours support as needed.
