Job summary

Garland is seeking an Operator in Training (OIT) to learn how to operate the city's water pump stations through SCADA and automated controls. The role includes monitoring the Water Distribution System and providing 24/7 dispatch and call center support for water utility trouble calls.

The position serves as municipal 311 operator for after-hours customer service, with the goal of obtaining Class D and then Class C Water Distribution licenses within the stated timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 1 year related experience in water utilities or dispatch.
• Must obtain Class D Water Distribution license.
• Ability to obtain Class C Water Distribution license within 18 months from hire.
• Valid Texas driver’s license (Class C)

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SCADA to maintain water pressure.
• Provide 24/7 water utility operations and dispatch support.
• Serve as municipal 311 operator for after-hours calls.
• Support intra-city after-hours non-emergency calls.
