Job summary

Oakland County in Pontiac, Michigan is hiring a Maintenance Laborer for Water Maintenance. This onsite role supports the public utilities team in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer systems to protect public health and the environment.

You’ll work as part of a hands-on crew and gain field experience on essential infrastructure. You will lift heavy materials, operate meters and gate valves, assist with hydrant maintenance, and participate in after-hours emergency coverage.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL Group A with N endorsement for air brakes.
• Complete examination, including employment medical.
• Probationary period of six months.

Responsibilities

• Assist maintenance personnel with inspection, maintenance, and repair of sewer, water, and storm drain systems.
• Lift heavy objects and operate hand tools; assist with meter maintenance and water valve operations.
• Assist with hydrant maintenance, water metering, and safety procedures.
